Samsung Galaxy S3 Deserves ‘iPhone Killer’ Tag

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of the first genuine contenders to the iPhone. This conclusion was reached after just a few days of using the handset. It is also enough to discover why Apple have tried so hard with patent infringement claims to stop sales of phones and just this week they have stopped Samsung selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet.

Samsung Galaxy S3 tops every handset on the market including iPhone 4S

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is still being rolled out despite attempts from Google to stop it and their complaints about it being a copycat of their products. All of the top carriers in the US will have the handset which comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a screen that has around 70% more real estate than the iPhone.

T-Mobile is offering the device in its 16GB version on a two year contract for $280, after the mail in rebate of $50. Sprint will have the Galaxy S3 in stores by Sunday and they will sell their 16GB for $200 with a contract. Meanwhile AT&T have started sending out their pre-ordered phones but have yet to give a date for when we can buy them in store. Verizon have set the date for in store as being mid-July and they will sell for $200.

So what might users expect of the phone? Well for one it is a powerful handset that is as well designed as a PC on the go. It has been said that this is what people want out of a phone today with around 1 in 10 individuals using their phone as their primary way to get on the internet. The Galaxy S3 comes packed with features and specs that outdo the iPhone 4S. These include:

A 4.8 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen which is 1280 x 720 HD, Android 4.0 which will no doubt be upgradable, 2GB of RAM, compatible with SD card for external memory up to 64GB, Qualcomm`s Snapdragon 1.5 GHz dual core processor, average download speeds of 10 megabits per second, pop-up Play for watching video while doing something else such as texting, apps including S Voice and Smart Stay, and an 8-megapixel camera with zero shutter lag.

While the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the first Android handset we find deserving of the ‘iPhone killer’ tag, this may end up being a shortlived victory if Apple manages to wow consumers with the iPhone 5. Only time will tell.
