No T-Mobile iPhone 5 In 2012, iPhone 4S To Support T-Mobile 3G Instead?

Customers with T-Mobile will unfortunately not be able to get their hands on the iPhone 5 this year when it is officially released, suggests T-Mobile marketing chief, Cole Brodman. He is said to have broken this news to employees at a recent town hall meeting, reports BizJournals.

No T-Mobile iPhone 5 this year?

If Sprint were to get the device this would mean that T-Mobile would be the only carrier in the US to not have the iPhone 5 to offer to their customers. Of course there would be hope of them getting it if the acquisition of T-Mobile by AT&T got pass opposition, which is growing and now includes the Washington State Attorney General.

With Brodman saying that there will be no iPhone 5 this year, those on T-Mobile are left with rumors that the iPhone 4S will instead be coming in to the pink carrier. We know that T-Mobile is expanding its 3G bands at the moment to support the iPhone 4S (currently, iPhone users on T-Mobile are stuck using EDGE). While the iPhone 4S would be no competition for the iPhone 5, with T-Mobile’s LTE network still in its infancy and the iPhone 5 reportedly supporting it, T-Mobile may be in no rush to get the iPhone 5 at this time anyways.

On a side note, rumor has it that Sprint has blocked out vacation days for their employees and these dates are September 30th to October 15th. These happen to be the dates when Apple is expected to launch the latest incarnation of their iPhone, the iPhone 5. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
