iPhone 5: Most-Wanted Feature May Not Be Coming This Year

E-mail

With the Samsung Galaxy S3 now officially announced, the next most hyped smartphone of the year is without a doubt the iPhone 5. With Apple traditionally launching new iPhone models at WWDC every year (except for the 4S), all eyes are on June 11 when Apple is expected to break the news at WWDC 2012.

Hype behind iPhone 5 most wanted feature may be premature

Now if you've been following the Apple rumor mill then you will be well aware of speculations of a liquid metal body, wireless charging, 4G LTE and much more.

However as we found out in a recent survey by CNET, the most-wanted feature is a 'larger screen'.

The survey recorded close to 20,000 votes and a larger screen was at the top, garnering 38 percent of these votes. Coming in second place was 4G LTE and better battery life, both at 17 percent. Other options included a "New slimmer, lighter design", "Wireless charging", and "A6 processor with faster graphic chip".

Now the folks over at iMore suggest that reports of an iPhone with a larger screen and 16:9 aspect ratio appear to be premature. So then what's with all these reports of a larger Retina Display on the iPhone? If you remember from past iPhone leaks, most of the features we saw turned out to just be prototype leaks.

So don't bet on a big screen iPhone 5 just yet. We'll be at WWDC 2012 in San Francisco next month so stay tuned for more updates.
